When I was in the beginning of my journey to learn Spanish, I struggled. At first, I used books that I purchased from the bookstore and I also listened to tapes that I purchased on tape from a well-known radio station. I tried to take notes when I could but the sheer amount of information for each lesson was overwhelming. This is when I decided to purchase a personal computer so that I could read Spanish books instead of listening to the same Spanish material over again. So that’s how I learned Spanish, I read the materials and then listened to tapes and then I read the materials again.
At the time, I didn’t know about online Spanish lessons or audio tapes and I decided to try them out. I found many Spanish lessons on line and the interesting thing about these Spanish lessons was that most of them were written by native speakers and therefore they were very high quality Spanish lessons. Not only were they high quality but they were also very detailed. After I listened to each Spanish lesson, I spent a lot of time going through the whole material until I could understand the language better. Then I realized that I was wasting a lot of time listening to a teacher and listening to the material. That’s when I realized that it wasn’t necessary to listen to the material once because the material was given so clearly and so well. I just needed to take the time to fully understand what was being said and I needed to spend the time to master the language.
Audio lessons on the other hand are great. I love them. I prefer them to books because if you make mistakes, you can correct them. You can go back and listen to the material and you can improve your Spanish skills while you are learning Spanish.
